We at The Wilmington Junior Golf Academy are constantly working to expand the effective reach and impact of our programs and partnerships with other facilities and organizations.  Here follows a detailed breakdown of what we are currently doing, and as we build our program and partner lists, much more will be added to this information.

MONDAY

We have The Wilmington Prep Academy, a charter school for less than privileged and at risk children from ages K – 6 to provide them with a safer school environment. We also have a program at the Brigade Boys and Girls Club. We are very fortunate that we have a couple of great volunteer instructors, Jim Booth and Frank Sheehan that conduct the program.

TUESDAY

On Tuesdays, we have two clinics with the Wilmington Community Boys And Girls Club, across from the Wilmington police station. We are lucky to have a fine young man who assists us named Daryl Parker, who is a member of the New Hanover High School Golf Team and an excellent student as well.  This is our oldest program, and we split it up between middle school and elementary students.  This program was recommended to us by our mayor, Bill Saffo.  Jake Hunt was just awarded one of the outstanding outsourced programs of the Wilmington Community Boy and Girls Club.
Summer – Mornings
School Year – Afternoons.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesdays, we have a class with Community In Schools, The Wire Program.  The national education association has named community in schools as one of the top 25 programs in the country for at risk kids.  This program was recommended personally to us by Mr. Ben David, the New Hanover district attorney.
Summer – Mornings
School Year – Afternoons.

THURSDAY

On Thursdays, we have a program with the young people at the Martin Luther King Center.  We were referred to this organization by the community boys and girls club.  Ernie Davis and a new recruit, Dr. James Guthrie are handling the reins of this program. Their help has allowed us to conduct a new pogram at Girls, Inc. We must be doing something right – BOTH of these programs were recommended by one organization to another!

FRIDAY

We go to Hampstead to teach to Dolphin Aquatics and Fitness as we had an opening which was awarded to North Topsail Elementary. The parent of the children that were in the previous program told the new guys about us and they asked us to conduct their program. All of the sudden, we went from 10 students to 40 in one stroke. It has been a real joy!

More to come!

We have gotten two new facilities to come on board in the last six weeks. Belevedere Country Club in Hampstead is hosting the Dolphin Program. Tom Willock is the golf professional, and has welcomed us with open arms.

Also, the driving range on Market Street is letting us use their location. Brian Moose and his family are the owners and they are really doing a great job for us. Please remember these places when you go out to practice and play.

We are working with about 20 kids on the weekends that are not in any of the above programs. They are just as important and we enjoy being with them just as much as the others!

We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the Special Olympics this spring, as their Golf Coaches, and we are on line to start the Autistic Program.

As you can see, we are going strong. All we need is your continued support. THANK YOU for everything you have done, and your future assistance. You are all great!
